KONTRIBUSI KETERAMPILAN ICE NAVIGATION TERHADAP PENINGKATAN KINERJA PELAUT PADA KAPAL DI PT EQUINOX BAHARI UTAMA

This research aims to determine and measure the influence of ice
navigation skills on improving the performance of sailors on ships at PT Equinox
Bahari Utama. PT Equinox Bahari Utama is a ship crewing company that crews
ships that sail in icy waters so it needs sailors who have the skills to navigate in ice.
Skills are one of the main assets that seafarers have to work on ships. Skills are one
measure of productivity possessed by a seafarer.
This research involved 30 Indonesian seafarer officers who worked on the
ship of the principal Anthony Veder Rederijzaken B.V which was manned by PT
Equinox Bahari Utama. The research approach used is a quantitative approach
with the data analysis technique used is a simple linear regression method to
measure how much influence skill variables have on performance and the Pearson
Colerate method to determine the relationship and direction of the relationship
between variables. Skill measurement data is carried out using surveys and
performance data is taken from appraisals (performance reports) of seafarers
while working on ships.
It is known from the results of the correlation test using the Pearson
correlation method between the ice navigation skill variable and the improvement
in sailor performance that there is a relationship with a correlation value of 0.710,
this value is included in the strong correlation level. Simple linear regression
produces the equation Y= 66.201 + 0.96X. From this equation it is known that the
constant value of the performance variable is 66.201, while the coefficient is 0.096
and is positive, meaning that every additional unit of the skill variable will increase
the value of the performance variable by 0.096 linearly. In addition, the effective
contribution value (coefficient of determination) between the ice navigation skill
variable and performance is 0.487 or 48.7%.
